Teror yang Menghiasi Kehidupan Tiyo Ardianto, Ketua BEM UGM
Ketua Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Tiyo Ardianto, kini menjadi korban berbagai bentuk teror setelah mengirimkan surat terbuka kepada UNICEF. Surat tersebut menyoroti kejadian tragis seorang anak di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) yang bunuh diri karena tidak mampu membeli alat tulis. Teror yang dialaminya tidak hanya menimpa dirinya sendiri, tetapi juga keluarganya dan pengurus BEM lainnya.
Rentetan Teror yang Menyerang Tiyo Ardianto
Pada 9 Februari 2026, Tiyo Ardianto mulai menerima ancaman melalui pesan-pesan dari nomor asing. Pesan-pesan tersebut berisi ancaman seperti “Agen asing”, “Culik mau?”, hingga tuduhan bahwa ia adalah agen asing. Selain itu, ia juga dikuntit oleh dua orang tak dikenal dan difoto dari jauh.
Pada 14 Februari 2026, ibunda Tiyo Ardianto juga menerima pesan WhatsApp (WA) yang menuduh Tiyo menggelapkan dana kampus. Ia disebut memiliki hubungan kuasa yang memungkinkan orang-orang mendapatkan Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah. Namun, Tiyo membantah tudingan tersebut dengan tegas.
Selain itu, Tiyo juga menerima teror dalam bentuk konten isu lesbian, gay, biseksual dan transgender (LGBT). Fotonya direkayasa menggunakan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (AI) dan disebarkan di media sosial. Ia menyatakan bahwa hal ini sangat menjijikkan dan merusak reputasinya.
Teror yang Menyasar Keluarga
Bagian paling berat bagi Tiyo adalah ketika ibunya menjadi sasaran teror. Pesan-pesan yang masuk ke ibunya pada tengah malam mencoba menakut-nakuti. Isi pesan tersebut menyebut bahwa Tiyo melakukan penggelapan uang. Ibu Tiyo, yang merupakan perempuan desa, merasa sangat takut.
Selain itu, sekitar 20–30 pengurus BEM UGM juga menerima teror serupa. Pesan-pesan yang mereka terima mirip dengan yang diterima oleh ibu Tiyo, yaitu tuduhan bahwa Ketua BEM UGM melakukan penggelapan uang.
Penilaian dari Amnesty Internasional
Direktur Eksekutif Amnesty Internasional Indonesia, Usman Hamid, menyatakan bahwa teror yang dialami Tiyo Ardianto bukanlah kriminalitas biasa, melainkan serangan sistematis yang bertujuan untuk membungkam kritik. Ia menilai teror ini sebagai pelanggaran serius terhadap Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM), terutama hak atas rasa aman dan kebebasan berekspresi.
Usman juga menyampaikan bahwa ancaman terhadap Tiyo merupakan reaksi atas kritik yang disampaikan kepada Presiden terkait insiden seorang murid SD di NTT yang bunuh diri karena tidak mampu membeli alat tulis. Ia menegaskan bahwa kampus seharusnya menjadi ruang aman bagi kebebasan berpendapat, bukan justru diliputi ketakutan.
Awal Mula Teror
Teror terhadap Tiyo muncul setelah ia mengirimkan surat terbuka kepada Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) pada 6 Februari 2026 lalu. Surat tersebut merupakan respons BEM UGM atas tragedi seorang siswa di NTT yang meninggal dunia karena bunuh diri. Isi surat lengkap dapat dilihat di bawah ini:

What kind of world do we live in when a child loses his life because he cannot afford a pen and a book?
Recently, Indonesia witnessed a humanitarian tragedy that should never have occurred. YBS (initials), a ten-year-old child from East Nusa Tenggara Province, took his own life because unable to purchase basic school supplies worth less than one US dollar. This was not fate, nor an isolated incident, it was preventable and is the result of systemic failure. This situation is far from the ideal that every child is guaranteed the right to learn, play, and imagine a future with hope instead of dying in despair.
The Indonesian Constitution even stated that every child is guaranteed to have an access to education, furthermore that moral standing is akin to the Article 28 of the convention on the Rights of the Child. Where the state has responsibility to ensure access to quality, equality, and equity of education for all children in the nation. This commitment is not translated well into the policy or behaviour of our President Prabowo Subianto who enforces the banality of injustice that diminishes lives and future without any consequences.
In this case, the primary responsibility lies with the state, which has failed to protect one of its most vulnerable citizens. The very root of this tragedy is caused by the individual and political egoism of our arrogant President Prabowo Subianto.
Instead of prioritizing the budget to fix systemic equality and equity, he deliberately cut the education budget for a disastrous, high cost and probable food poisoning policy called Makan Bergizi Gratis (Free Nutritious Meals). Thus, this calamity of state failure shouldn’t cause families from poor countryside to internalize structural injustice as self-blame, while our inhumane President exploits poverty as electoral leverage for the 2029 general election.
In light of this tragedy, we urge UNICEF to intensify its role in Indonesia by advocating for stronger child protection policies, safeguarding education budgets, and ensuring every child’s future. So preventable suffering and death shouldn’t be happening due to policy failure. And most importantly, help us to tell Prabowo Subianto how stupid he is as a President. His stupidity generated fundamental issues that led to the loss of innocent life-an unforgivable crime against humanity.
